In ayurveda conception is a sanctified act as per with ritual hence called a SANSKAR.(संस्कार)
In our ancient ayurvedic scripts before 5000 BC in it’s one of ASHTANG’s (अश्टांग)i.e PRASUTITANTRA (प्रसूति तन्त्र), GARBHADHAN SANSKAR(गर्भधान संस्कार) is mentioned.
What grows in womb (गर्भाय)is called foetus (गर्भ).For the output of well grown healthy baby the sanskaras are given to the pregnant lady this sanskaras are on monthly basis.
Acharya Sushrut (सुश्रुत),Acharya Charak (चरक) and others ayurvedic scriptures had explained Mansanumasik Garbh Vikas ( Development of foetus according to the particular month ) for Ex- in first Month. “प्रथमे कलल जायते”
For the life of garbh Jeevaniya Ganas Dravyas are given.
In this way different type of nourishments are provided to the foetus through the pregnant women according to the specific needs of the child for complexion , vigour, health , mental development.
